After several years Renault provides engines for the Benetton team in 2002 Renault buys the team and for the first time since 1985 creates a team with their name.

The first participation of Renault in Formula 1 in 1977 (photo 1) and then comes the introduction of turbo engines. In his debut in official competition Renault RS01 with Jean-Pierre Zhabui behind the wheel ranks 21 th position on the grid for the Grand Prix of Great Britain. However, the team failed to reach the finals as void and in the remaining four races of the year. In 1979, however Zhabui reaches the first victory for the new Renault RS11 in Dijon and the team finishes in sixth place in the standings. In 1980 come three new victories, and after Alain Prost came to the team in 1981, winning his first two years of the three wins of the team for the season.  In 1983, Renault finished second in the Constructors' and Alain Prost lost the fight for the title against Nelson Piquet only two points. In the next year simply moved to McLaren and Renault things go down. Once the team became fifth in 1984 and seventh in 1985, Renault has already participated in 123 races, has 31 poles and 15 victories. When Renault withdrew from the sport, he has not won the title and have to wait until 2005 to accomplish this goal. In 1989 Renault returns as supply engines to Williams team, which won many world titles. Later the same given to Renault in collaboration with Benetton. In 2002, Renault returned as an independent team in Formula 1 after buying Benetton. Jenson Button remained in the team and compete with Jarno Trulli. With a few good performances in 17 races Renault reaches fourth place in the constructors. Then team boss Flavio Briatore decided to replace Button in the 2003 season with the young Spanish star Fernando Alonso. In 2003, Renault again ranked fourth, while Alonso won his first victory in the race for the Grand Prix of Hungary. For next year, Alonso and Trulli remain in the team as the Italian won the race in Monaco, and it remains the only victory for Renault this season. Trulli, however spoil relations with Briatore and before the end of the season race for Toyota. As the Italian deputy for the remainder of the season attracted Jacques Villeneuve. Nevertheless, Renault moves up one spot and is ranked third in the constructors.

During the 2005 season Briatore, however plans are implemented. With R25 and Giancarlo Fisichella for teammate Fernando Alonso won seven wins and secures the drivers' title to Kimi Raikkonen. Furthermore, Renault defeated longtime rivals McLaren in the constructors fight. 2006 start for Renault with three wins but title race remains until the last round. The first half of the season is impressive Alonso, the Spaniard won six of the first nine races. By the end of the season he only reaches a victory that turns out to be extremely important. In the penultimate race - of "Suzuka" Michael Schumacher receives engine failure on his Ferrari, but Alonso leads to victory. So before the last race in Brazil Alonso has 10 points ahead of Schumacher and there finally secures the drivers' title and Renault the constructors again triumphed.
2007 season begins very difficult for the world champions, lost their leader Fernando Alonso. In Australia, Fisichella remains fifth, clearly visible gap from leaders Ferrari and McLaren, and the team BMW Sauber. The young deputy Alonso Heikki Kovalainen failed to include a high level immediately in Reno and after his first two races disappointing 10th and 8th place, the Finn was criticized by Renault boss Flavio Briatore. In Monaco and Canada respectively Fisichella and Kovalainen reach two consecutive quarters places, gradually presenting Kovalainen starts to improve to reach second place in Japan for the young Finn. After the season from French team did not offer a new contract to Fisichella and Kovalainen goes into McLaren teammate Lewis Hamilton. In Renault after a year's absence returned Alonso Fernando Alonso and his teammate will be Nelson Piquet Junior.

Renault regroup before the start of the 2008 season and managed to regain Fernando Alonso after his stormy season Malaran. In place of Kovalainen stood Nelson Piquet Jr., who made his debut in Formula 1. In the early stage of the year, The car was quite cumbersome and problematic, but in the second half of the championship campaign, things changed. While Piquet mainly tried to stay in the top ten, his teammate Fernando Alonso took two consecutive victories - in Singapore and in Japan. In the last few races Renault took all the points the period of time. Constructors, the French ran fourth. In 2009, Renault released the same composition and pilot with big ambitions. The situation for Renault this season was no different from last year. Alonso again led battles ahead alone while Nelson Piquet trailing in the second half of the standings. In Hungary, the race for Renault turned glavvata down after leaving boxing, one of the front tires Alonso began to vibrate strongly. Shortly after he returned to the track, the tire flew off the track. Stewards punished severely Renault them imposed disqualification from the next race - this in Valencia.
The team of Enstoun appealed and eventually launched in the Grand Prix of Europe. Nelson Piquet was even expelled from the team after the race in Hungary, because of weak performances in the last year and a half. Just a few months later, the FIA announced that it agreed to investigate Renault Nelson Piquet to crash in Singapore in 2008 and Pat Symonds Britatore rejected all accusations, but decided to leave the team before the hearing before the FIA. Renault even accepted all charges and decided not to appeal, which actually saved them from large penalties. The team received a suspended sentence of two-year suspension from the sport. Alonso left Renault to Ferrari and went, and the team arrived at the end of the season Robert Kubica. Rumours that Renault would follow Toyota out of the sport prevailed, but in the end, the French in an elegant way reduced impact on the team as sold 75% of it to the Luxembourg investment fund. For now Renault remain in 2010, but did not know how long the team will be part of Formula 1.
With a new majority owner and a new driver in the team, Renault had to deal with the legacy that Flavio Briatore leaving Eric bulit. Robert Kubica was presented at a level while news about Vitaly Petrov were associated more with sponsors who drew from his homeland in the team instead of his results on the track. Robert managed to record three finish in the top 3 in Australia, Monaco and Belgium, while Vitali was not particularly convincing. Fifth place in the championship with the teams was not exactly that which Gerard Lopez hoped. After the season, the British from Lotus Group became the main shareholder in the team, bought by the rest of the shares in Renault team. The team was renamed Lotus Renault, but it frustrated Tony Fernandes and his Lotus, which this season will have engines of the French. Currently leads the work of the names of ekishpite, which certainly will drag on until the late stages of the season.
All seemed well in Reno - The car was quick tests, the financial future of the team was secured and accuracy then things turned upside down. Robert Kubica crashed heavily in Italian rally in early February, nearly lost his life. Right arm and leg were severely cut Pole by road railings and after three operations, doctors managed to restore limbs Pole. He will be out for the season and his place was called urgently veteran Nick Heidfeld. The German showed excellent possession of the new car and flair to the car. The season begins with many questions for Renault, but in the face of Nick, the French found serious replacement for Robert.
After Robert Kubica crashed heavily at the beginning of February 2011, the team from Enstoun had to urgently find a replacement for their injured star. He was immediately called Nick Heidfeld, who started the season well alongside Vitaly Petrov. German even reached the podium in the first races, but the situation changed quickly. Drazgi between internal teams and drivers, as well as problems with radical exhaust system Renault presented led to the collapse of the shape of the team. Rosberg was replaced mid-season by Bruno Senna, who also failed to bring the desired point and Renault had to settle for fifth position in the constructors. At the end of the season solve the problem with the name Lotus and Renault officially received its new name. Once it became clear that Kubica will not be able to return next season, the team resorted to a radical decision - to return Kimi Raikkonen in the sport. They failed and now with him and the new driver Romain Grosjean, Lotus are ready to attack the Top 3. The car is good, the pilots also will have something that will again escape team Lotus?
