BMW Sauber started the 2006 season with its own team, having bought Swiss team Sauber Petronas. Previously, BMW worked closely with Williams, which has provided engines, such as the BMW-Williams team ten victories achieved within five years. After buying the Sauber Petronas team attracts new in itself Nick Heidfeld of Williams and Jacques Villeneuve reserves the contract, which has a Sauber. Mario Theissen remains responsible for sport competitions in the BMW, the team has invested to form highly qualified team of engineers led by Willy Rampf.  Rampf worked at BMW South Africa and, when invited to the first race of Peter Sauber in Formula 1 in 1993, he seized the opportunity and joined. In 1997 he returned to BMW, to guide the preparations around the rally "Paris-Dakar". Ten years later he was back in Sauber as Technical Director and BMW bought the team when he took the job in preparing the car for the new season.
For the new team to Reference year goes well, the balance is 36 points and fifth place in the constructors' championship. The season started well, Villeneuve and Heidfeld look equally strong. They regularly enter the area of the points in the race, but the race for the German Grand Prix is the last of Villeneuve in the team. A conflict arises between him and the leadership because of an accident in the first lap, which ejected him and his teammate Heidfeld from the race.. In its place began to race test driver Robert Kubica, which in turn sends a previously unknown pilot of Formula 3 Sebastian Vettel to replace Kubica as test driver. Vettel impresses with good times of Friday practice, and Kubica has the potential to become one of the stars of Formula 1 in the future. Heidfeld won third place in Hungary, but causes more comments first entry in Troika Kubica of "Monza" yet in his third race. And if the team had not made an error in the choice of tires in China, Kubica would surely be on the podium and "Suzuka".
In 2007, BMW Sauber convincingly established itself as the third force in Formula 1, with regard to the teams - Ferrari and McLaren after. Ultimately, however, the German team even reached second place in the constructors after McLaren was punished by withdrawal of all points of the team for the season. Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica kept firmly behind the leading foursome pioloti and managed to take points in all competitions this season. Best performance of the team is in Canada, where Heidfeld ranked second, but it was overshadowed by the terrible accident of his team-mate Kubica, who miraculously escaped uninjured after a very serious accident. Another entry BMW called troika was in Hungary, where again Heidfeld leads the way to third place.
2008 season for Team BMW Sauber started more than good and Kubica gradually emerged as a leader over Heidfeld. In the middle of the year the team decided to focus on the car for 2009. Meanwhile Kubica made a very strong season and achieved the first victory for BMW in Montreal. Robert subsequently lost momentum and contender for the title, was fourth with the same number of points with Kimi Raikkonen. Nick Heidfeld in turn had a lot of problems during the season, but made enough to allow his team to rank third among designers. Once threw a lot of time and money in its development, the team started the 2009 season hoping its pilots, are constantly on the podium.

After an extremely successful 2008 season, all expecting BMW-Sauber to be fast from the first race. However, the model proved disastrous. Heidfeld managed to take second place in the terminated Grand Prix of Malaysia, but it did not help much. Kubica had a long time outside the points until the Grand Prix of Turkey. But then it was too late to convince bosses in Munich not to take drastic measures
At the end of July horrible rumor became fact - at the end of the 2009 season, BMW leaving Formula 1. The only thing left of Kubica and Heidfeld had to impress future employers. Both gave everything of herself, even Robert finished second in Brazil. In the end the team was sixth in the standings with 36 points. In 2010, the team will return to its roots after BMW sold the team back to Peter Sauber. He in turn will use Ferrari engines for their new cars. The event of 2009 Kamui Kobayashi and Pedro de la Rosa they will try to return the smiles of people after heavy Hinvil year. After BMW withdrew from the sport, the team of Peter Sauber had to do it alone. Pedro de la Rosa and Kamui Kobayashi were selected as pilots of the team, as fans welcomed keeping the attractive Japanese.
While it showed strong results in the preseason for the 2010 season, Sauber failed to deal with problems affecting the durability of the car. Ultimately, the first points came to Turkey after Kobayashi is ranked tenth. Before the Grand Prix of Singapore, it became clear that De la Rosa will be replaced by Nick Heidfeld for the remaining five races. Nick was able to score points in Japan and Korea. Ultimately, the team finished in eighth position with 44 points. For the new season, Kobayashi will lead the team as co-pilot will be youngster Sergio Prez. He managed to bring many Mexican sponsors with yourself and save the day in the Sauber now.
The team from Hinvil scored consecutive year of growth. In 2011, the team of Peter Sauber scored 24 points more and one place higher in the standings than the previous year. The result could have been better if the points earned by Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Prez Australia were respected. Despite strong statistics, Sauber began to lag behind the middle of the season of his chief rival Force India. It starts getting tacky at the end of the year, when thanks to the points earned in the last race, the Swiss team managed to come to Toro Rosso duo in seventh position. Sauber next season will try to make another step forward and chasing sixth place. Perez and Kobayashi proved good tandem, contrary to most expectations, and are ready to attack the track in the new season.
